The Bibliothèque Lennoxville Library is hiring a part-time Youth Activities Coordinator.

Start date: June 1st 2021

End date: December 10th 2021

Hours per week : 12-20 (20 over the summer, 12 after Sept. 1st- flexible)

Days: Wednesday- Saturday (Hours will depend on employee’s schedule & schedule of children’s activities)

Hourly wage: $13.90

The Youth Services Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Library Coordinator to plan, organize, publicize, and animate activities for children at the library, including weekly story times and other programs in French and English, in particular the Summer Reading Club and associated events and activities, both online and in person depending on the pandemic situation. Kids activities at the library target children aged 3 to 13 for the most part. They can include craft activities, stories, educational games, and other activities depending on the chosen candidate’s competencies. The chosen candidate will be expected to excel at client service, teamwork, communication, leadership, and digital skills.

Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Ability to manage groups of children of diverse ages
  • Pertinent experience working with children
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills in English and French, both oral and written
  • Knowledge of books and literature, in particular children’s literature.
  • Experience with, or appreciation for, public libraries
  • A sense of initiative and creativity
  • A sense of responsibility
  • Computer skills, in particular knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
