Meet our Board Members

A Sherbrooke native with roots going back to the 1830s, Donna managed the English-language bookstore at the Carrefour de l’Estrie for 20 years. She serves on the board and the English Book Selection Committee and prepares all new books before they go on the shelves. Her favourite reading spot is the Refuge le Château café, coffee in hand.

A volunteer and board member for several years, Irene enjoys working quietly with books. For her, each book has its place, its story, and an author who has put much effort into it

Ron is a retired United Church minister who enjoys telling biblical stories by heart, swimming, gardening, and collecting Canadian stamps. He moved to Lennoxville with his partner in 2021 and now lives in Huntingville. He serves as treasurer on the library board.

A mother with a deep love of reading, Marjorie is an occupational therapist and university professor with a strong interest in critical perspectives on disability and autism. Forests and libraries are, by far, their favourite places on Earth. A member of the board, Marjorie contributes to children’s activities and to reflections on the library’s mission, placing great importance on the diversity of lived realities represented in the collection.

An elementary school teacher passionate about children’s literature, Cynthia has been involved on the board for several years. She contributed to the Espace Biblio project, which reaches young people and the community in a space that’s at the heart of the community. For her, the library is a vital third place that fosters social connections, participation, and openness to others.

Originally from southern France, Édith has lived in Lennoxville since 2008. She is a law professor-researcher at the University of Sherbrooke and has been involved on the board since 2020, first as secretary and now as vice-president.

Father of three, Jean-François is a strong advocate for the role and benefits of culture in society. Wishing to support his local community, he naturally became involved on the board.

An avid reader with a particular love of children’s literature, Judy has served on the library board for several years. She selects English children’s books, helps organize the library’s popular book sales, contributes to Canada Reads, and serves on various committees. A longtime Townships resident, she is also involved with Uplands and several community arts groups.

Janice spent most of her career in communications, including journalism, translation, and editing. Volunteering is her way of contributing to the community and meeting new people. She has worked for several community and corporate events in both Sherbrooke and Montreal.

With a strong passion for history, Jody has worked in archives in the Eastern Townships for nearly 20 years. Outside of reading old letters and studying vintage photographs, she volunteers with several community organizations, including the library.

Having grown up in Sherbrooke, Heather worked in pastoral services at Alexander Galt Regional High School, Bishop’s University, and Champlain Regional College. Now retired, she serves as President of the Board and also chairs the Board of Mental Health Estrie. These roles, along with family nearby, keep her actively engaged in the community.
