APRIL 9: Phyllis Sise
As lively as air and strong as steel,
they float, catching prism light,
to make a home, a trap, an incubator.
Seven glands weaving spidroin protein,
a thread with an electrostatic charge.
Spiders sail on air currents to migrate miles.
Walking through saplings,
I am left with filament,
threads of gossamer, gossamer gold.

A contractor, house inspector and animator for seniors, none of these things have captured Phyllis Sise’s attention as much as writing and becoming Granny Muffin. Published in many anthologies, she is most proud of her book Spring to Lips, published by Yarrow Press in 2021. She lives in Foster on the Yamaska River.
