Become a Member

Membership is free for Sherbrooke residents and for all students enrolled in schools, CEGEPs, or Universities in Sherbrooke, regardless of where they live.

To create a membership, come to the library circulation counter during open hours with photo ID and proof of address (driver’s license, hydro bill, lease, etc.), or apply online, using the sign up form here. We will be in touch with details as soon as we receive your request.

For those who live outside the City of Sherbrooke, yearly membership fees are as follows:

Youth 0-17 : $25

Adults 18-64 : $ 35

Adults 65+ : $25

Family (Up to 2 adults + kids from the same household) : $ 45.00

Keeping non-resident fees reasonable and accessible is a core part of the library’s mission. We do not wish to exclude anyone for financial reasons. If non-resident fees are a barrier to access for you, please contact us at coordo.bibliolen@gmail.com so that we can find an arrangement that works.

Non-resident membership is free for library volunteers. If you would like to learn more about volunteer opportunities at the library, email us at coordo.bibliolen@gmail.com.

Membership is valid two years in the case of Sherbrooke residents, and one year in the case of non-residents.

Adult members may borrow up to ten books and children may borrow up to 12 books for a period of three weeks.  Books may be renewed for an additional three weeks.  New arrivals and interlibrary loans are not eligible to be renewed.
